The top three winning designs for the National Art Gallery of Singapore have been revealed. Two international architectural design firms, Studio Milou Architecture from France and Ho + Hou Studio Architects, a Taiwan-based architectural firm; and one Singapore company Chan Sau Yan Associates were named from among five shortlisted teams of architecture and design firms. The National Art Gallery of Singapore which could be re-named at a later stage is scheduled for completion in 2012.

I am a little sad that the City Hall is being turned into an art gallery. Being the place that saw the end of the Second World War and the Japanese surrender, you'd think that there would be more dignity and consideration given to such a historic place. At least keep the REAL surrender chamber untouched....
The National Art Gallery of Singapore has to preserve the old and capture the new. What other elements should be taken into account for the final design ?
