Youths are traditionally stereotyped to be brash, impetuous and lacking in foresight. But it is no longer the case in this day and age. With the increase in spending power and a thirst for knowledge, many young people are holding fast to their purse strings, wanting to make their money work more for them. This internet savvy generation is also making use of their IT skills to find out more on stocks and investments, all in the hope of someday retiring earlier than their parents. .

 
 

 

In recent years, close to 10 investment clubs have formed in Singapore alone. Instead of having working adults, the members consist of tertiary students who are increasingly gaining interest in investment. We speak with Terence Lim, President of the Nanyang Technological Investment Interactive Club and also Wong Siu Jau, General Manager of Fundsupermart.com to find out what these students are looking for when they join the clubs.
