A worried Malaysia told its athletes
"to buck up and beat Singapore…for Prime Minister
Mahathir Mohamad".
Malaysia, which had set a target of
eight gold medals for the Busan Games, went home with
only six, but it did manage to finish a gold ahead of
Singapore.
