The
emblem of the 14th Busan Asian Games embodies the spirit of the
city of Busan as well as the development and unity of the Asian
people.
The basic Taegeuk motif of swirling blue waves
of the East Sea symbolises Busan and Korea.
The two dynamic powers are closely intertwined.
Look closely and you may find, the wave's shape
imitating the character B, the first character of Busan.
The
sea gull is Busan's city bird.
Hence the pure dynamic image of the bird for the
mascot for this year's 14th Asian Games.
Called "",
the mascot expresses the Asian Games ideals of harmony, friendship,
and prosperity for all Asian countries.
The name is a construct of 'Durative' and 'Asia',
signifying "Everlasting Asia". It also means "you
and me togther" in the Korean language.
The thick black ink and free line expression not
only symbolises Korean traditional culture, it also evokes the image
of a powerful spirit and the great hopes for Asia in the 21st century.
