Getting Around
Hong Kong's Taxi Service
Taxis are a good choice for travelling short distances as
they serve most of Hong Kong's major areas.
Taxi fareas are relatively low with basic flagfall
rate at HK$15.
Communication should not be problem as most
taxi drivers speak English but it may be wise to have your
destination written in Chinese characters.
Only Hong Kong dollars are accepted and receipts
are available upon request.
Taxis in Hong Kong are colour-coded in that
their colour determines the areas they service.
Taxi drivers are required to clearly display
their names and car numbers on the dashboard, and are required
by law to hand over lost property to the police station in
under six hours.
Passengers should contact the police if they
misplace anything.
