Getting Around

Kuala Lumpur 's Train Services
There are two rail systems in Kuala Lumpur.

KTM Komuter
These city trains are efficient. They stop at various city stations, are an ideal way travel to places outside of the city.

The first line provides service for the north-south route, starting at Sentul and terminating at Port Klang. En route, it passes Shah Alam and Klang. The second starts from Rawang (20 km and goes all the way to Seremban in neighbouring Negeri Sembilan, 66 km south-east of KL.)

Train tickets start from RM1 and can be purchased from stations and automatic machines at the various stops. Saver passes are also available with durations of one week up to one year.

Light Rail Transit
With its minimum fare of 75 sen, the light rail transit is a marvelous and cheap way to see KL.

The Star LRT starts from Sentul Timur, in northern KL and heads south, via Masjid Jamek and Pudu. The Putra LRT runs the southeast route. Starting at Gombak in north-east KL, it passes the Benteng station, KL Sentral (at Grand Central) station and Universiti Malaya before ending up at Subang Jaya, on the western outskirts of the city.

The LRT operates from 6 a.m. - 12.00 midnight daily and tickets are available at the offices outside each station. On sale also are stored-value tickets of RM20 and RM50. Maps and booklets are also available at each station.

Coming soon: Monorail (People-Mover Rapid Transit - PRT)
It will run south from Jalan Tun Razak near the Jalan Pekelling bus station, to end on the south-western outskirts of the city at Kampung Pasir. Along the way, it will pass the Golden Triangle. The monorail is to connect with the Putra LRT as well as the Star LRT at various stations in the city.
