Campaigning
Election campaigns run from the close of nomination
up to the eve of Polling Day.
Candidates can conduct house-to-house visits,
distribute pamphlets, put up posters and banners and hold election
rallies.
Parties may be given airtime by broadcasting
stations for their party political broadcasts.
The airtime allocated depends on the number
of candidates each party is fielding.
Internet Campaigning
For the first time, the Internet is to be covered
by the Elections Department's campaigning rules.
Political party websites are allowed to carry
photographs, drawings or illustrations which advertise the party
or a candidate.
Historical or biographical information and the
party manifesto is also acceptable.
Also allowed are the party's newsletter; advertisements
to recruit volunteers, political party supporters or newsletter
subscribers; announcements of events; and moderated chats, discussion
forums, and links to other websites.
The restrictions apply until Polling Day.
