Appointed Senior Minister by Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong
1963 - 1965 One of 15 MPs from Singapore to the Parliament of Malaysia, from 16 September 1963 until 9 August 1965, when Singapore separated from the Federation.
May 1959 PAP won the General Election. Became Prime Minister
April 1955 Contested General Election for the Tanjong Pagar Constituency, a working-class dock area, and became one of three PAP Assemblymen. Has remained the representative of Tanjong Pagar Constituency since 1955
1954 Helped found People's Action Party (PAP).
Became Secretary-General. Held this office, except for brief period in 1957, until November 1992
