Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong gave his National Day Rally speech on Sunday 19 August at 2000SST.
As announced by the Prime Minister at the National Day Rally, the Ministry of National Development has relaxed the public housing policy for singles. From 28 August 2001, single citizens, aged 35 or above, can buy 3-room or smaller resale HDB flats in any location, including the seven urban estates. Get the full release here.
