Senior
Minister Lee Kuan Yew has called on Singaporeans to prepare for
the longer-term changed circumstances in the light of the economic
downturn and the September 11 attacks on the United States.
Speaking
at an NUS Students' Union forum on Monday, he said Singaporeans
had to remake Singapore over the next 10 to 20 years.
He
assured Singaporeans that the country has the resources and the
wit to ride through the short-term difficulties.
Painting
an immediate grim economic outlook, Mr Lee said recession in the
United States was almost inevitable.
