Q1 Economic Survey of
Singapore
Singapore's economy showed an improvement in 1Q02,
contracting 1.7% compared to the 6.6% decline in 4Q01. The

SQ006 Final Report

final report on the crash of SQ006, pointing to bad weather
and pilot error as "probable causes" for the tragedy.
But the Singapore Ministry of Transport's own investigation
says the Taiwan report downplays significant systemic factors,
including deficiencies in Chiang Kai Shek Airport, which contributed

proposals are to cut the top personal tax rate from 26 percent

Singapore's
Advance 4Q GDP
(2 Jan 2002)
Singapore's advance estimate of gross domestic
product for 2001 showed a contraction of 2.2 percent, and
was down 7.0 percent for the fourth quarter year-on-year.
The Singapore economy grew 9.9 percent in 2000. In a statement,
the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) said goods producing
industries declined 16.2 percent while the services producing
industries fell 1.6 percent for the fourth quarter. Details
