Taiwan's Aviation Safety Council (ASC)
has released its long-awaited final report on the crash of
SQ006, pointing to bad weather and pilot error as "probable
causes" for the tragedy.
But the Singapore Ministry of Transport's own
investigation concludes that the accident was due to "a
failure of the aviation system" rather than any single
factor. MOT says the Taiwan report downplays significant systemic
factors, including deficiencies in Chiang Kai Shek Airport,
which contributed to the mishap.
The three pilots of SQ006 have been questioned by Taiwan public
prosecutors. Read the ALPA-S statement
