Manchester United eyeing City player

The Mirror has reported that Manchester United is pondering over a move for Manchester
City's out-of-favour Stephen Ireland.

The former Ireland international was one of City's top performers last season but has fallen
out of favour under Mark Hughes and Roberto Mancini.

Adding fuel to this rumour is the fact that Alex Ferguson has always been an admirer of the
Irishman and is now said to be considering a £14 million bid for him this summer.

Juventus issue ultimatum to Rafa Benitez

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has been given the ultimatum by Italian giant Juventus: Quit
Liverpool by next Friday if you want to manage us.

Juventus' admiration and pursuit for the Spaniard is an open secret ever since Ciro Ferrara
was dismissed early in the season. And it takes two hands to clap considering that Benitez
has been on constant loggerhead with club owner Tom Hicks and George Gilletts.

However, with reports that Gilletts and Hicks promising to release a £50 million transfer kitty
for next season, the Spaniard might just resist the Italian temptation.

Gareth Bale wanted by Italian giants

Troubled Italian club Juventus have set their sights on Tottenham's Gareth Bale for a summer
overhaul, according to The Mirror.

The 20-year-old left back has finally regained some of his former glimpse and established his
place in the first team.

Bale's return to form marked a remarkable turnaround for a player who was once labeled
a curse to Tottenham - Bale played a record number of 24 Premier League games for Spurs
without being on the winning side until he came on as an 85th minute substitute against
Burnley on 26 September 2009, more than two years after signing for Spurs.

Secret behind Bobby Zamora's sweet form

"When you're sat in row Z and the ball hits your head, it's Zamora."

Long gone are the days when fans, including Fulham supporters, will ridicule another Bobby
Zamora's wayward effort on goal with such chants.

The Fulham striker has been in a sweet scoring form this season and The Mirror understands
that it might has something to do with a sweet treat.

According to The Mirror, it has emerged that Zamora feasts on banoffee pie (an English pastry
based dessert made from bananas, cream, toffee and boiled condensed milk) just a couple of
hours before kick-off.

Currently, the striker's tally stands at a creditable 18 goals and has even been tipped for a
shocked England call-up.

McClaren for West Ham

The rumours about Gianfranco Zola dismissal continues as The Daily Mirror reports that
West Ham owners have found a suitable replacement for the affable Italian.

That person is none other than former England manager Steve McClaren, who's currently on
the verge of winning the Dutch league with FC Twente.

According to the papers, David Sullivan and David Gold will keep their faith with Zola in a
bid to avoid relegation and then slowly ease the Italian aside in the summer.

Zola and Sullivan have been involved with a series of disagreements over the past few
weeks after the latter's public rebuking of the team's poor performances.

Albert Riera blasts Benitez

Liverpool's Spanish midfielder Albert Riera launched an astonishing attack on Rafa Benitez, accusing his fellow compatriot for his failure to communicate with the team and his lack of
style to manage Real Madrid.

According to Soccernet, Riera told Radio Marca about Benitez's inability to communicate with
the players.

"He thinks he is in charge and he just turns a deaf ear to everyone else. The dialogue with
the players is practically non-existent. There is a lack of tact," he told the Spanish radio station.

He continued his criticism of Benitez by claiming the Liverpool boss's conservative management
style wiill not be in demand at Real Madrid.

"At Madrid they ask you to win and play lovely football. We [Liverpool] are effective, sure, but
we don't play brilliant football," said Riera of his boss who has been on the shortlist to replace
Manuel Pellegrini at Real Madrid.

up the position. Chairman Adam Pearson has been looking for what he described as an
'impact' manager to keep Hull City in the Premier League.

His previous experience in the top-flight was his short stint at Charlton Athletic. The London
club was relegated at the end of the season.

Brian Law on the verge of being sacked?

After 10 games in charge and Brian Laws could start packing his bags.

Eight defeats in 10 games have sent Burnley plummeting to 18th place and according to
the Sun, the Burnley chiefs felt that they have made a big error in appointing Laws.
