IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR CONTRIBUTORS TO THE FABRIC OF THE NATION 1. To all contributors who have submitted patchwork blocks for the Fabric of the Nation ("FOTN"), please note that our acceptance of your submission is subject to the following:- (a) your assignment to the Ministry of Community Development and Sports ("MCDS", including its successors and assignees), of your ownership of and all copyright and any and all other proprietary rights, including all moral rights, to the patchwork blocks submitted and all written materials submitted therewith; and (b) your warranty to MCDS that all patchwork blocks and all written materials submitted by you are original works and have not been copied wholly or substantially from any other work or material and that the exercise by MCDS of the rights assigned to it will not infringe the rights of any third party. 2. If you are not agreeable to the above and would like to withdraw your submission, please notify the FOTN organisers as soon as possible, and in any event by no later than 1st October 2003, and your patchwork block(s) and written materials will be returned to you as soon as practicable and will not be used by MCDS, whether as part of the FOTN quilts or otherwise. If we do not hear from you by 1st October 2003, you shall be deemed to have agreed to the above terms and MCDS shall be the exclusive owner of all patchwork blocks submitted and all written materials submitted therewith, including all copyright and any and all other proprietary rights, including all moral rights, subsisting in the patchwork blocks and such written materials and anything used or produced in connection with the patchwork blocks and such written materials. MCDS shall have the right to exploit any and all of its rights in respect of the patchwork blocks and the aforesaid written materials in any and all media (whether print, electronic or otherwise) by any and all manner or means throughout the world together with the right to authorise others to do so, including without limitation the right to use the designs on the patchwork blocks and/or the written materials for FOTN merchandise without payment of any royalty fees or other payments to the contributors. In addition, MCDS, its successors, assignees
and licensees shall be entitled, but not obliged, to use each contributor's
name for the promotion of FOTN, on FOTN merchandise or otherwise
in connection with FOTN. Due to the overwhelming response to the Fabric of the Nation, we have more than surpassed our original target of 3000 blocks for an 8-panel tapestry. While we have increased the number of display panels on Sewing Day to 12 (double-sided), this still does not cover ALL the patchwork blocks submitted. Contributors whose blocks are not within the display panels on Sewing Day, pls do not be unduly worried as rest assured, we will sew them onto additional panels after the event. Likewise, we're still in the process of loading the pictures of your patchwork blocks onto the web. Thank you so much for your warm support to the Fabric of the Nation project!
