Highlights of Uniquely Singapore’s performance in
Clipper 05-06 Race

Uniquely Singapore
is first in Panama
Uniquely Singapore crossed the finish line for Race 8 on 30 May 2006, bagging their first win in the Clipper 05-06 Round the World Yacht Race despite Durban being hot on their heels.

After crossing the line, Skipper Richard Falk said, "Everyone worked hard on this leg and the crew is thoroughly deserving of the win."

The Singaporean crew has led for much of the 2,200 mile race, but this win marks their first podium finish. Prior to Race 8, they were at in eighth place overall.

The Clippers restarted for Race 9 towards Port Antonio, Jamaica on 15 June 2006 in blazing sunshine but virtually zero wind. Although a more low key departure than some, there was an enthusiastic farewell from residents and staff at the marina, and an impromptu water fight as New York, the last boat to leave, gave three cheers to the race team before pelting them with water bombs.

Finishing Race 9 first was Durban, followed by Western Australia, New York and Uniquely Singapore on 17 June 2006. As for the overall position, Uniquely Singapore is at the sixth place.

Singapore Clipper’s twice a winner
The Uniquely Singapore clipper has sailed its way to top spot at North Cove Marina, Manhattan in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 05-06!

This was Uniquely Singapore’s second win after topping the last leg at Panama. Such sterling performance has moved the Clipper up to fifth position on the overall leaderboard.

Uniquely Singapore arrived on 30 June in Manhattan after travelling 1400 miles from Port Antonio in Jamaica.

On 3 July, the eve of American Independence Day, the celebration was drenched in generous flow of beer until late at the prize giving party. The ‘al fresco’ party was held on the banks of the Hudson River with New York Sports Commissioner, Kenneth J. Podziba as guest-of-honour.
