So Much To Learn Onboard
Sunday, 13 April 2008
 |
We are back on close haul sailing, heading straight to Santa Cruz, after an enjoyable week on beam reach and even spinnaker sailing. |
Our gamble on heading more northerly has paid off so far, lifting us from 7th to 2nd position.
Although I have been onboard since Leg 4 (from Australia), I find that there is still so much to learn onboard. It’s not just about sailing, it’s also about understanding the weather system (which I am still trying to make sense of), the maintenance of important equipment like the engine, generator set and water maker etc.
Also, some of the crew have bought star charts in Hawaii which we have been using to locate the stars during night watches.
Greetings to everyone back home, I will be back soon!! (in around 3 months)
