Dedicated To Uniquely Singapore And The Crew

 |
This is an entry dedicated to Uniquely Singapore and the crew that had been, have been and will be sailing on it. |
In some way, it will also be my last (farewell) entry as I will be disembarking at Santa Cruz.
I still remember the feeling when I first got on this bright red coloured boat on the night of Christmas Day in Fremantle, Australia - a mixed bag of trepidation, thrill and eagerness. As I gingerly stepped onto the deck of Uniquely Singapore, I knew that I would be leading a rather different life for the next three to four months (even the air in the boat smells different… I hate to hazard a guess why…)
So yes, this voyage will finally come to an end in a couple of days and what a voyage it has been. I have raced across oceans, battled freezing cold temperatures, endured sweltering heat, bumped around on the foredeck during high winds and helmed a 68-foot vessel over towering waves. But I guess what really made the difference was the crew that made up the boat – you moulded the mood on the boat, you determined the teamwork that ran this boat effectively and safely, and you created an experience that compelled me to share this bit of adventure with others.
So thank you for the great time Uniquely Singapore. Special mention goes out to Skipper Mark Preedy for just being a great Skipper - for the standards that you have set in sailing the boat, the stories, the jokes and not forgetting for some of the sleepless nights you had just to keep us safe. The ASEAN crew for just being a most unique assortment of individuals of diverse backgrounds who have gone through quite a bit of "suffering" with me and had become a group of friends I can rely on. There are a number of other individuals who also deserve mention but as I am running out of space (what a cop out right.. heh), I shall leave it as such. You guys know who you are.
Thank you.
