Mahathir bids farewell to the political scene

It's the end of an era for Malaysia as Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad steps down from leadership.

On October 31 2003, Mahathir passes the torch of leadership to Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

He would have served as elected prime minister for twenty-two years; making him the longest serving elected prime minister in Asia.

Mahathir maintains that he will not interfere with Malaysia's administration once he steps down.
