Prime
Minister Goh Chok Tong covered a wide range of issues in his National
Day Rally speech, from the future of the Singapore economy to his
successor.
"The journey may not always be smooth. We will
come across many gullies and boulders blocking our way. And we may
slip and fall from time to time. But your leaders and guides are
experienced. They have sound judgment, strong hands and calm nerves.
So as we have always done, when we fall, we pick ourselves up, brush
off the sand and dirt, and climb again," he said.

Singapore celebrated its 38th National Day in a show
of colour and fireworks.
Some 60,000 people came dressed to party - in red
of course - and were all geared up for the first ever "People's
Parade." And this was a parade with a twist as participants,
both military and civilians, participated directly in certain appropriate
segments of the parade.
Apart from the spectators, our healthcare workers
and the troops from the Traffic Police, Civil Defence and SAF's
Provost Unit - who wowed us with their fancy footwork and rifle
display - also took centrestage at this year's parade.
If you have missed the sights and sounds of NDP this
year, catch it at our parade

to say to their motherland on its 38th birthday on our message

Did You Know? lets you
