Three people were reportedly killed and 11 injured on Friday when the roof of a building in China collapsed, when people were taking shelter from heavy rain.

SHENZHEN: Three people were reportedly killed and 11 injured on Friday when the roof of a building in China collapsed in heavy rain.

According to Chinese media outlets Nfdaily and China News, the roof collapsed on a bank in Shenzhen at about 11.30am on Friday. At the time of the incident, there were between 20 and 30 people taking shelter from heavy rain at the entrance of the bank.

Caijing.com.cn reported that eight of those reported hurt sustained minor injuries.

CCTV also reported that rescuers were still searching for victims.

China on Friday braced for Super Typhoon Rammasun heading for its southern coast after the storm left a trail of destruction and at least 54 dead in the Philippines.

Xinhua said Rammasun was expected to be the strongest typhoon to hit Hainan in 40 years.
