KUALA LUMPUR: Three Singaporeans and two Indonesians were among 18 people detained by Malaysian police in a series of drug busts last week.

More than a million ringgit worth of drugs were seized in the operation along with five luxury cars, three of which had Singapore number plates.

Kuala Lumpur police say the Singaporean men who were picked up are also wanted by the Singapore authorities.

The men are being investigated under Malaysia's Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
