Malaysian models fined for semi-nude photo shoot

Two freelance models in Malaysia were fined RM400 (S$159) in default of one month's jail each on Wednesday (Aug 27) for dressing inappropriately in a public place during a photo shoot.

How Jo Yee, 21, and Low Kah Wai, 27, admitted before Magistrate Haslinda A Raof to wearing minimal clothing while at the Jalan Sultan Yusuff traffic light in Ipoh on Aug 25. Low was wearing a pair of black trousers while How was clad in her underwear and bra.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong asked the court to impose a deterrent punishment, saying the sensitivities of the multi-racial community in the country must be respected.

Counsel Andrew Soong Tze Toong expressed the duo's public apology for their inappropriate behaviour.
