SINGAPORE: Manila Electric Company and Unilever Thailand on Thursday received the Asian Human Capital Award for their outstanding human resource practices.
They received the award at the Singapore Human Capital Summit.
The award aims to spur companies across Asia to focus on their human capital development to drive business excellence.
Unilever Thailand developed a multi-functional project to engage their staff.
This included initiatives to cultivate employees' entrepreneurial streak and reduce resource wastage.
The initiatives contributed towards double-digit growth for the business while halving the management attrition rate.
Manila Electric Company adopted an approach that incorporated values such as strategic employee communication and employee volunteerism.
Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Health and Manpower Dr Amy Khor said: “Since its inception five years ago, the (Asian Human Capital Award) has grown from strength to strength. The number of applications submitted has doubled. This year, we received 89 applications from 58 organisations located in 11 countries across Asia -- the highest number since we started the Award."
