GlobalRoam to invest S$2m in start-up aSpecial Media

The deal will allow its subsidiary GNum to expand its expertise to help businesses identify consumer trends and widen marketing reach. 

SINGAPORE: Homegrown telecommunications company GlobalRoam has made a S$2 million investment in a local data analytics start-up aSpecial Media. The deal was made through its subsidiary GNum, and will allow GNum to expand its expertise to help businesses identify consumer trends and widen marketing reach.

For aSpecial Media, the new funds will allow it to deepen its tech capability and boost its data collection.

Mr Clarence Tan, founder and CEO of GlobalRoam, said: "This investment via our subsidiary GNum elevates the value proposition of GlobalRoam beyond IP telephony and will allow us to engage enterprises more directly using the power of big data."

GNum also plans to launch a new service that combines its own IP telephony service with the analytics applications of aSpecial Media to help businesses track the behaviour and buying patterns of internet users.
