Sembcorp Marine secures US$1.08b contracts to build drill ships

Sembcorp Marine has secured contracts from Transocean Ltd worth a total of US$1.08 billion to build two drill ships.

SINGAPORE: Sembcorp Marine has secured contracts from Transocean Ltd worth a total of US$1.08 billion to build two drill ships.

The contracts were secured through Sembcorp Marine's subsidiary Jurong Shipyard, which will deliver the drill ships in the second quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Sembcorp Marine said Transocean has the options for three additional drill ships.

Transocean currently owns and operates six drilling rigs built by Sembcorp Marine's yards.
