Singapore shares end up 1.14%

The blue-chip Straits Times Index (STI) rose 36.66 points to end at 3,259.09 on Wednesday, as it caught up with Asia's gains on Tuesday when the Singapore market was shut due to a public holiday.

The blue-chip Straits Times Index (STI) rose 36.66 points to end at 3,259.09, as it caught up with Asia's gains on Tuesday when the Singapore market was shut due to a public holiday.

In the broader market, 1.76 billion shares worth S$1.50 billion changed hands. Gainers beat losers 266 to 167.

Among the gainers, ComfortDelGro jumped 4.25% to S$2.21, after the land transport company reported better-than-expected 9.7% on-year rise in first-quarter net profit.
