SEOUL: K-pop girl group the Wonder Girls' management agency, JYP Entertainment, announced Tuesday that group member Sohee has decided not to renew her contract with the company when it expires later this month.
JYP Entertainment explained that Sohee wants to pursue an acting career, and said the agency respects her decision.
However, it is still unclear if the 21-year-old singer, whose real name is Ahn Sohee, intends to switch agencies or sign with JYP Entertainment as an actress.
With the departure of Ahn, four Wonder Girls remain – Sunye, Yenny, Hyelim and Yubin – though Sunye is currently on hiatus following her marriage in January.
JYP Entertainment said it will take the remaining members’ individual activities into consideration, before deciding on a new direction for the Wonder Girls.
