Darth Vader crashes piano recital

Darth Vader and a detachment of Stormtroopers made a surprise appearance at US piano duo Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Roe's performance in Singapore on Friday.

SINGAPORE: US piano duo Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Roe had visitors from a galaxy far, far away, during their Singapore gig at the Esplanade Concert Hall on Friday.

“Star Wars” villain Darth Vader and a detachment of Stormtroopers made a surprise appearance when Anderson and Roe performed their impression of the Star Wars Cantina Band on Two Pianos.

Darth Vader and his troops, played by members of the 501st Singapore Garrison, the local chapter of a worldwide Star Wars costuming organisation of Star Wars fans, even stayed around after the show to attend the pair’s album signing event, and drew curious stares from onlookers.

Other highlights of the evening include Anderson and Roe’s unique interpretation of classical favourites like Astor Piazzolla's “Libertango” as well as Aram Khachaturian's “Sabre Dance”.

This is Anderson and Roe’s second performance in Singapore.
