SINGAPORE: Singapore film "Ilo Ilo" will not be a contender at the 2014 Oscars.
It did not make the Oscars Best Foreign Language Film shortlist of nine films.
Last month, "Ilo Ilo" - a family drama set against the backdrop of the 1997 Asian financial crisis - won big at Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards.
It picked up four awards, including Best Feature Film - trumping heavyweights like Wong Kar-wai's "The Grandmaster".
"The Grandmaster" however, has clinched a spot on the Oscars Best Foreign Film shortlist of nine films.
The nine films were whittled down from a list of 76 movies announced in October by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences which organises Hollywood's biggest annual awards festival.
The list will be further reduced to five nominees and they will be announced in January 2014.
