Julian Cheung, Chrissie Chau to star in HK adaptation of “Pretty Woman”

Hong Kong singer-actor Julian Cheung and model-actress Chrissie Chau are set to appear in a Hong Kong adaptation of the 1990 Hollywood film “Pretty Woman”.

HONG KONG: Hong Kong singer-actor Julian Cheung and model-actress Chrissie Chau are set to appear in a Hong Kong adaptation of the 1990 Hollywood film “Pretty Woman”, reported Hong Kong media.

Helmed by Hong Kong director Patrick Kong, the film will see Cheung play a billionaire playboy who meets Chau’s character at a bar, when he gets lost in Mongkok.

He later decides to hire her to make his ex-girlfriends jealous, but winds up falling in love with her instead.

When asked about the project, Chau said through her manager that she “admired Julian Cheung very much”, and looked forward to working with him.

The “Pretty Woman” adaptation will cost about HK$50 million (S$8.1 million) to make, and will be shot in Hong Kong, Japan, Europe, the Mediterranean region as well as Mexico.

It is expected to go into production sometime in April.
