Local TV artistes, volunteers, beneficiaries come together for massive charity show

Over 200 MediaCorp artistes, volunteers and beneficiaries will come together to perform at the “ComChest Care & Share Charity Show 2014” on July 27 at the 1,600-seater Resorts World Theatre.
SINGAPORE: Over 200 MediaCorp artistes, volunteers and beneficiaries will come together to perform at the “ComChest Care & Share Charity Show 2014” on July 27 at the 1,600-seater Resorts World Theatre.
The charity show celebrates the Community Chest-led Care & Share Movement, a nation-wide fund-raising and volunteerism movement - a part of the SG50 calendar of events to mark Singapore’s 50th year of independence - and aims to raise S$5 million for the less privileged.
The money will go towards supporting 226 programmes which serve over 300,000 beneficiaries in Singapore.
Under the Care & Share Movement, the government will match dollar-for-dollar all donations made to the Community Chest and up to S$1 million for donations made to the 209 charities in the movement till December 31 this year.
The charity show will feature performances by local artistes like Rebecca Lim, Bryan Wong, Ian Fang, Xu Bin, Xiang Yun, Hong Hui Fang and Chen Liping.
Taiwan singers Wakin Chau, Valen Hsu along with Hong Kong actress Charlie Young and singer Elisa Chan, will make an appearance on the charity show as well.
An online auction of items donated by celebrities will be conducted in conjunction with the charity show from July 1-31.
Items up for grabs include UK football player Michael Owen’s autographed England jersey and a hand-crafted guitar signed by Chau.
Those who wish to donate can call 1900-112 8808 to donate S$8, 1900-112 8828 to donate S$28, 1900-112 8848 for a S$48 donation or 1900-112 8888 to make an S$88 donation, from now till telepoll lines close on August 10.
The “ComChest Care & Share Charity Show 2014” will be broadcast live on July 27, 7pm on Channel 8.
