Tracy Lee, Zhang Zhen Huan and Jeffrey Xu mobbed by young fans at Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School.
SINGAPORE: The students of Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School had a treat when MediaCorp artistes Tracy Lee, Zhang Zhen Huan and Jeffrey Xu showed up at their Mid-Autumn Festival celebration on Friday (Aug 29).
The visit was part of a series of school tours organised by TAP, an online initiative by MediaCorp’s Artiste Management Unit to facilitate fan interaction with MediaCorp personalities. Several artistes have popped in at schools such as Tanglin Secondary School, CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School and MacPherson Secondary School to participate in various activities, including giving motivational talks to students.
At Pei Hwa, the artistes took to the stage and played Chinese word games with the audience, before being mobbed by crowds of exuberant pupils.
“The pupils’ enthusiasm tonight is unforgettable,” said Xu. “I felt like I was an international superstar – that feeling of not being able to take a few steps (without being mobbed). I think that’s exactly what any artiste would want!”.
Lee agreed: “The pupils were so enthusiastic that I was a little shocked! This is my first time celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival with so many people – and there are teachers around, so we have to behave!”
But that “back to school” feeling didn’t faze Zhang in the least. “Seeing the children’s liveliness brings back a lot of memories for me, especially on an occasion as meaningful as Mid-Autumn Festival,” he said. “For the three of us non-Singaporeans, having the opportunity to celebrate with everyone is especially meaningful and it feels like home.”
