Oli 96.8FM gets a makeover

Singapore Tamil radio station Oli 96.8FM unveiled its new logo and revamped programme lineup with a star-studded music event on Saturday.

SINGAPORE: Singapore Tamil radio station Oli 96.8FM will have a new logo as well as a brand new lineup of radio programmes from June 9.

This is the radio station’s first major revamp since it was established 78 years ago.

Oli 96.8FM marked this transformation with a special music event at Bukit Panjang Plaza on Saturday.

More than 1,000 people turned up for the show, which featured performances by singer Suthasini, Kaushik, Vijay Anand as well as dance groups Rameshwara and Diversity.

Past Oli 96.8FM deejays like Bachant Kaur, Thiruselvi, Somasundaram and Yokanathan also made an appearance at the event to celebrate the radio station’s big revamp.

Veteran Oli 96.8FM deejay Rafi, who has been with the station for over 15 years, said the revamp will mean more "exciting times ahead" for the station.

“Oli has come a long way from the time I started working, be it in terms of technology or even the current crop of talents,” said Rafi.

“The revamp and new logo is a milestone for Oli. As the saying goes, ‘Change is the only constant in life’. I believe it will certainly help the station reach more listeners.”

Oli 98.8FM’s new programming lineup sees deejay Vimala host the “Attakasam with Vimala” lunchtime show from 10am to 2pm, and deejay Rafi co-host the station’s evening show “RaRavudan Ragalai”, which runs from 4pm to 8pm, with fellow deejay Ranjaniy every weekday.

As part of the new changes, deejay Ravi Guna will also host the new “Chillax with Ravi G” show from 9pm to 1am on the revamped Oli 96.8FM from June 9.
