Hong Kong actress Tavia Yeung launched into a humorous discussion of gongs and drums to sidestep questions about her rumoured romance with actor Him Law, during an awards show in Singapore on Saturday.
SINGAPORE: Being deliberately ambiguous about their romances is something Hong Kong stars do all the time.
But few can do it with a heavy dose of humour like Hong Kong actress Tavia Yeung, who is rumoured to be dating actor Him Law.
“What was it you said? I am a little hard of hearing,” said Yeung with a laugh after reporters quizzed her about her thoughts on being called "Mrs Law" by the Hong Kong media, backstage during Saturday’s StarHub TVB Awards in Singapore.
“Are you talking about beating gongs (the Chinese word for gong sounds identical to Law) and drums? I have a scene like that in my drama!” Yeung continued, determined to evade the question.
When asked if she is happy with “Mr Law”, Yeung drew laughter from the gathered reporters as she attempted to sidestep the question yet again by saying that “it’s quite good beating the gongs and drums”.
Mr and Mrs Law
Yeung's rumoured relationship with Law had been the target of numerous jibes throughout the awards show.
The show's host King Kong even alluded to it repeatedly over the course of the event - something which annoyed Yeung no end.
“When I was on stage just now, I really felt like taking off my heels and hitting him over the head with it, but I didn’t because I wanted to maintain my poise,” Yeung joked, when she met reporters after the awards.
Him Law on the other hand, seemed much more relaxed than Yeung was, even when the media questioned him about when Yeung would become "Mrs Law".
"She can become Mrs Law if she has to play a character with that last name in a show," Law said with a grin.
What about in real life?
“For a lot of things, there is no need to be too deliberate," said Law.
"Let fate decide it.”
