122 students receive Special Awards for achievements in various areas

One recipient is Ms Teo Min Ru, who is being recognised for her efforts in school and her keen interest to serve the community.

SINGAPORE: One hundred and twenty-two students were recognised for their achievements in both academic and non-academic areas on Tuesday (Aug 19).

Senior Minister of State for Law and Education Indranee Rajah, who presented the awards from nine categories at the 2014 Special Awards Presentation Ceremony, congratulated the recipients in her speech. She praised them for their "outstanding service to the community and exceptional perseverance in the pursuit of self-improvement", and urged them to continue to deepen their skills through work and continuing education later on.

One recipient is Ms Teo Min Ru. The Hwa Chong Institution student is being recognised for her efforts in school and her keen interest to serve the community.

On her dreams and aspirations for the future, Ms Teo, who was awarded both the Prime Minister's Book Prize and Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence, said: "I want to pursue something that I am interested in and hopefully, it will be something that also benefits the community."
