3 teenagers arrested over taxi robbery

Three teenagers were arrested on Sunday morning for allegedly assaulting and robbing a taxi driver. The boys, aged between 16 and 17, allegedly committed the crime at about 2am on Sunday at Japanese Gardens Road.

SINGAPORE: Three teenagers were arrested on Sunday morning for allegedly assaulting and robbing a taxi driver.

The boys, aged between 16 and 17, allegedly committed the crime at about 2am on Sunday at Japanese Gardens Road.

Police said they were arrested eight hours later.

The suspects, who were passengers in the taxi, punched the driver, took some cash and fled.

The driver filed a police report and two of suspects were later arrested at their homes in Woodlands.

The suspects will be charged in court on Monday and if found guilty could face imprisonment of at least five years and caning.
