SINGAPORE: More schools are likely to conduct balloting this year for Phase 2B of the Primary One school registration, which ended today (July 22).
Balloting takes place when there are more children registered than the number of vacancies available. Phase 2B is for children of parent volunteers, community leaders, and church or clan association members.
This year, 31 schools received more registrations than the number of vacancies available, and these schools are likely to hold a ballot on Friday (July 25). Last year, 24 schools conducted balloting at this point of the registration exercise, while in 2012, 28 schools did so.
Phase 2C of the Primary One school registration will begin on July 30 and end on August 1. This is for children who are Singapore citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents who are not yet registered in a primary school.
