SINGAPORE: The Landscape Industry Association (LIAS), Institute of Technical Education (ITE), and National Parks Board (NParks) on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to award 50 scholarships worth S$600,000 over five years.
This initiative will help develop a pool of highly-trained students for careers in the landscape industry.
Under the agreement, scholarships will be offered to 50 students pursuing ITE's Nitec in Facility Technology (Landscaping Services) course over a five-year period.
The scholarships will support students through their two-year study at ITE.
Students will also be offered attachment programmes with member companies from the association to better prepare them for a career in the sector.
NParks and LIAS will also share expertise in landscape services and other related disciplines to aid curriculum development.
The scholarships are funded by LIAS and the Garden City Fund, NParks' registered charity and IPC.
