SINGAPORE: This year's Budget is focused on keeping Singapore ahead of challenges, said Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong on Sunday (Mar 27).
Speaking at a grassroots Heritage Trail and remembrance event for the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew at Marine Parade Community Club, Mr Goh said this would have been something Mr Lee wanted for Singapore.
"Mr Lee was always focused on the future. And he would want life to carry on normally and in fact life could be even better after him. So that's the best way to remember him. And this is where the Budget comes in. I think it's a good Budget that's focused on transforming the Singapore society,” he said.
ESM Goh also stressed that Singapore needs to keep up with changes in the world, adapt according to the trends, and stay ahead of challenges.
About 140 Marine Parade cluster residents and grassroots leaders explored the heritage of Joo Chiat and Marine Parade in remembrance of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew on Sunday.
ESM Goh joined them in appreciating a photo exhibition and added a picture of his own family to a canvas installation themed "My Family Portrait".
