City Gas lowers gas tariffs for households

City Gas, which supplies town gas to nearly 90 per cent of residents in new Housing and Development Board estates, is lowering its gas tariff for households by 0.8 per cent, from 21.18 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 21.01 cents per kWh.

SINGAPORE: Households will pay less for the town gas that they get from City Gas over the next three months.

City Gas, which supplies town gas to nearly 90 per cent of residents in new Housing and Development Board estates, is lowering its gas tariff for households by 0.8 per cent, from 21.18 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 21.01 cents per kWh.

In a statement on Sunday, the company said the new pricing will be effective from February 1, 2014 to April 30, 2014.

It said the adjustment is due to a decrease in fuel costs of two per cent compared to the previous quarter.

City Gas said it reviews its gas tariffs based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the gas industry regulator.

Besides HDB estates, it also supplies town gas to private properties and as well as commercial and industrial operations, including hawker centres, food courts, laundries and printing plants.
