Consumers advised to stop using six Han's Skin Care products

Six types of Han's Skin Care cosmetic products have been tested and found to contain potent undeclared ingredients. Consumers should discard the products and not use them any longer, warned the Health Sciences Authority.

SINGAPORE: Six types of Han's Skin Care cosmetic products have been tested and found to contain potent undeclared ingredients.

Consumers should discard the products and not use them any longer, warned the Health Sciences Authority (HSA).

The affected products are Flawless Day Cream, Flawless Night Cream, Treatment Toner, TRIAL Flawless Day Cream, TRIAL Flawless Night Cream, and TRIAL Treatment Toner.

HSA said the ingredients found in the products are hydroquinone, tretinoin, mercury and salicylic acid.

Hydroquinone and tretinoin are used in Western prescription medicines for the treatment of skin conditions.

These ingredients are prohibited in skincare cosmetic products and should only be used under medical supervision as they may cause harmful effects if not used properly.

The inappropriate use of hydroquinone could result in changes in skin colour and hypersensitivity reactions.

Using tretinoin inappropriately could lead to redness and peeling of the skin.

The use of mercury as an ingredient in cosmetic products is also prohibited.

Regular application of creams containing mercury could lead to rash, skin discolouration and blotching.

The use of products with high levels of salicylic acid could lead to dry, irritated and red skin.
