Durian lovers get a taste of 'kampung spirit'

About 350 durian lovers got a taste of the 'kampung spirit' and a chance to bond with one another at the Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green Community Centre on Sunday (July 27) as part of this year's Durian Mobilisation event.

SINGAPORE: About 350 durian fans socialised over the “king of fruits” in an exotic ‘makan’ session at Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green Community Centre on Sunday (July 27) as part of this year's Durian Mobilisation event.

Organised by well-known food blogger Dr Leslie Tay and the Singapore Kindness Movement, the event has grown from the durian degustation sessions originally started by Dr Tay in 2008.

Those who turned up on Sunday were served two varieties of durian - namely the buttery Mao Shan Wang and the fleshy D24.

It is hoped the event will give participants a taste of the 'kampung spirit' and a chance to bond with one another.
