Football: LionsXII lose 2-1 to Pahang in Malaysia Cup

Dickson Nwakaeme and Fauzi Roslan helped the Malaysian side defeat Singapore's LionsXII.

SINGAPORE: After a goalless draw with Felda United last week, the LionsXII were hoping for a better result against Pahang at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday evening (Aug 19). The Singapore side was missing Baihakki Khaizan and Khairul Amri due to injury.

The LionsXII dominated much of the Group A game, but Pahang who were looking to avenge a 4-1 defeat earlier this year, drew first blood in the 13th minute courtesy of a Dickson Nwakaeme goal. Pahang doubled their lead in the 88 minute with a goal from Fauzi Roslan.

Fandi Ahmad's men pulled one back through Faris Ramli's 94th minute goal, but it was a little too late to salvage anything by then, as Pahang triumphed 2-1.
