SINGAPORE: The Government will intensify communication efforts to help Singaporeans better understand MediShield Life, the new universal healthcare insurance scheme, said Senior Minister of State for Health Amy Khor in Parliament on Wednesday (July 9).
Dr Khor is also the chairman for the Government's feedback platform REACH. According to feedback collected after the MediShield Life Review Committee released its report, many Singaporeans lack understanding of how the scheme works.
During the debate on MediShield Life, several Members of Parliament pointed out the importance of communications and outreach in preparing Singaporeans for the rollout of MediShield Life.
Residents will soon be able to hear more about the scheme from their grassroots leaders, as briefings will be organised for this group over the next few months. Dr Khor said other initiatives will include developing publicity materials such as advertorials and collaterals.
As for the Integrated Shield Plans, Dr Khor said the Government will help policyholders understand how their plans work with MediShield Life. This includes working with insurance providers to ensure responsible marketing of the plans.
She added that the outreach for the Pioneer Generation Package will be expanded to include information about MediShield Life."The most important message we want all our pioneers to know is 'You will pay less, for better protection. Your MediShield Life premiums will be lower than what you pay for MediShield today,'" said Dr Khor.
