SINGAPORE: Tampines residents will now find it more convenient to prepare for the Hari Raya festivities with the launch of a festival bazaar in their vicinity.
The Hari Raya Bazaar is being held at the open field at Tampines Central 5 (next to Tampines MRT station) till July 27.
Apart from a wide variety of lifestyle and food stalls, there's also an interactive heritage exhibition to explain the traditions of Hari Raya Puasa.
At the launch on Friday (July 4), residents were entertained by popular local and Malaysian celebrities.
Education Minister and MP for Tampines GRC Mr Heng Swee Keat was the guest-of-honour.
"Hari Raya Aidilfitri is one of the four major festivals in Singapore. And all these festivals are celebrated by everyone regardless of race or religion. And in fact, it is very common to see Malay families inviting friends of other races for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations." said Mr Heng.
The bazaar is organised by the Tampines GRC Citizens' Consultative Committees and Tampines GRC Malay Activity Executive Committees and supported by the Panel of Activists for Community Engagement and Singapore United.
