ICAO secretary-general in Singapore

The Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Raymond Benjamin, will be visiting Singapore under the Ministry of Transport's Distinguished Visitors' Programme.

SINGAPORE: The Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Raymond Benjamin, is visiting Singapore from Sunday (August 3) to August 7 under the Ministry of Transport's Distinguished Visitors' Programme.

During his visit, Mr Benjamin will call on Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister, Co-ordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs; Mr K. Shanmugam, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law; and Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport. He will also meet Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport, and Mr Lee Hsien Yang, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).

On Thursday (August 7), Mr Benjamin will give a lecture at the Civil Service College (CSC) on international governance and leadership in the aviation sector, jointly organised by the CSC and the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA). In addition, Mr Benjamin and Mr Yap Ong Heng, Director-General of CAAS, will be signing Annex I to the Singapore-ICAO Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation in Leadership and Management Training, on the conduct of the ICAO-SAA Directors-General Course on Aviation Safety.

Mr Benjamin will also officiate at the inauguration of the SAA as an ICAO Regional Training Centre of Excellence and an ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre.
