SINGAPORE: Members of the public can now have a say in the design of the new Project Jewel at Changi Airport.
The Jewel Changi Airport Devt, which is a joint venture between Changi Airport Group and CapitaMalls Asia, is inviting the public to submit ideas for the mixed-use development.
Jewel Changi Airport Devt says it has received many suggestions from the public since the project was first announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the National Day Rally last year.
The lifestyle destination is expected to feature a range of retail outlets and unique leisure attractions when it is ready in 2018.
Through its latest campaign, Jewel Changi Airport Devt hopes to establish a formal process for the public to submit their ideas.
Selected entries will first be reproduced as art on the temporary fencing around the construction works for the facility which will begin later this year.
Some of the ideas may also be developed into art exhibits for display in the airport or produced into souvenirs.
Jewel Changi Airport Devt says the submissions should be two-dimensional such as photographs, drawings and sketches.
Local artist Soh Ee Shaun, who will participate in assessing the submissions, said the panel will be looking out for “works that are imaginative, fun, something that reflects what Project Jewel will be, like an iconic lifestyle destination".
From now till March 31, the public can send in their ideas via the Project Jewel's website.
