The Infocomm Development Authority has launched a mobile learning platform which will see a retrofitted bus visiting primary schools to get students engaged and excited about technology.
SINGAPORE: The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) launched a mobile tech platform called Lab On Wheels on Saturday (Nov 8).
The platform centres on a retrofitted 40-seater bus that houses technology-related activities such as coding a game in one hour, programming a robot, tinkering with a gadget and learning how electronics work. Lab On Wheels is for primary school students to have a new and fun way to learn about technology.
IDA says it aims to reach out to 80 primary schools and 16,000 students over the next two years. The mobile platform, which is a collaboration between the Government and industry, was launched by Minister for Communications and Information, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim on Saturday.
IDA said in a statement that Lab on Wheels aims to ignite the young's passion for technology via its engaging and experiential learning experience. It adds that the larger goal is to encourage the youth to pursue technology as part of their school curriculum or career. This in turn will help build local tech talent for Singapore.
