SINGAPORE: The crowd was back as Lau Pa Sat re-opened today (30 June) after a $4 million and eight-month makeover.
Stall-owners Channel NewsAsia spoke with said the lunch crowd on the first day was up 30 per cent, compared to pre-renovation days. They said business was "good".
Many office workers were glad the wait was finally over. They said "the wait" was worth it, as the new food centre has new offerings. They include new entrants selling Japanese and Korean food.
But they also noticed a "slight increase" in food prices.
The food centre can now seat 2,500 diners - 460 more than before. But some customers said the seating arrangement is not as spacious as before.
