The inaugural Carnival organised by the airline will be open to the public and is free of charge. Those in attendance would stand a chance to win tickets to the F1 Singapore night race, says SIA.
SINGAPORE: Leading up to the 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix, to be held from Sep 19-21, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will be hosting its first-ever Light Up The Night Carnival on Saturday (August 16).
The Carnival will be held at the Singapore F1 Pit Building at Marina Promenade, and will take place between 2pm and 10pm, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
The event will be open to the public and is free of charge, and carnival goers will stand a chance to win tickets to the F1 Singapore race. Limited edition SIA F1 merchandise and promotional airfares for travel from Singapore will be sold as well.
Car enthusiasts will also be able to catch local group Scuderia FSG parading their supercars in a convoy around Singapore in the hours leading up to the Carnival. These supercars will be showcased along with a group of vintage cars in an exhibition at the event.
Members of the public will be given the opportunity to participate in go-kart racing, remote-car rating, driving race simulators or learning how to change an F1 car tyre at the event. It will also include free movie screenings for children, UV and body painting, as well as models of race legends from Madame Tussauds Singapore and an actual-sized F1 car.
"The SIA Light Up the Night Carnival will be a great prelude to one of the most exciting sporting events in the world, and one of the most exciting races in the F1 calendar," said Mr Foo Chai Woo, SIA's Divisional Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
"It will be an opportunity for more people to experience the excitement and spirit of F1, and explore some ares that will be the centre of all the action come September."
Members of the public are encouraged to pre-register for the Carnival at www.SIAnightrace.com to enjoy access to the priority queue for various activities. Registration opens on Aug 4.
SNAP AND WIN
Besides attending the carnival, F1 fans can also win race tickets by snapping and tagging their photos at any Singapore Airlines-F1 related event and share it on social media networks with #RacewithSIA.
SIA said winners of the five best entries every week between Aug 1 and Sept 21 will stand a chance to receive an exclusive SIA F1 goodie bag, while winners of the most interesting photo collages or videos posted before Sep 10 will stand to win tickets to the F1 Singapore Grand Prix night race.
